Alumni Relations Specialist (P7) (three (3) year fixed term contract)

The position supports the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) RLCSA whose aim is to support skills development among emerging young leaders Southern Africa. It entails implementing and managing the Alumni and communication strategy. The incumbent will be required to assist in the building of strong relationships and strengthening of partnerships between YALI RLC SA, its alumni and other stakeholders, in order to advance the objectives of the YALI RLC SA.

Requirements:
3 year Degree in communications, journalism marketing or any related field
At least 5 years relevant experience in communication-related activities, multicultural marketing and/or networking
Skills
•Computer literate including MS Office and database software
•Proficiency in English
•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
•Extensive knowledge in communication via written, visual media and social media
•Demonstrated ability in public speaking and presentations
•Must be innovative and goal driven with strong networking and problem solving skills
•Ability to travel national and regionally for business needs
•Ability to work extended hours as and when required
Recommendations:
•Proven work experience at a tertiary institution or relevant administrative experience.
•Registered student at Unisa or any other tertiary institution.
Duties:
•Contribute to the formulation of the Alumni and communications strategy
•Plan, initiate, and manage alumni programs, taking into consideration the objectives, policies or needs of the Alumni
•Prepare and/or edit publications for alumni, including newsletters and stakeholders’ reports and ensure application of YALI RLC SA branding policy
•Organise Alumni events, including regional conferences, mini seminars and public and networking events
•Ensure effective communication with all stakeholders
•Ensure effective benchmarking
