VANSA Winter School Registration 2024
REGISTRATION OPEN – VANSA WINTER SCHOOL 2024: IN COMMON
VANSA will hold its third annual Winter School in Johannesburg from Monday 31 July – Friday 4 August each evening from 6 to 8pm.
The Winter School was conceived as a response to a need for informal, educational engagement. The sessions are structured to encourage participants to investigate the impact of a selected theme on their work as cultural practitioners; last year’s theme was ‘Mother Tongue’.
This year, the school will host an intensive on the theme: In Common, a reflection on sharing and collectivity. In Common will be a week of discussions on interconnectivity from a localised African perspective. This year’s school is a platform for registered participants to explore subjects such as ownership, property, design and domestic space through discussions with practitioners committed to thinking through people’s relationships and connections.
Models for working ‘in common’ for cultural practitioners will be considered throughout. The 2024 Winter School is driven by our localised, historically situated and politically oriented experiences.
