Vheneka 2024 New Job Position Available
Vheneka seeks to help women wanting to escape from prostitution by offering them a transitional shelter with psychosocial support and economic empowerment skills. Our programme is designed to offer individual attention to all our clients (survivors of prostitution), taking into consideration the varying levels of trauma and educational backgrounds. Vheneka takes pride in conducting services centered on survivor empowerment.
Job Title: Social Worker
Job Location: Mowbray, Cape Town
Responsibilities:
- Do assessments, complete referral forms, intake forms, care plans, follow up forms and all relevant documentation in an accurate and detailed manner
- Ensure that all files are securely stored and maintain confidentiality
- Arrange appropriate care, resources or benefits to survivors
- Identify cases and do referral services internally within the centre and externally to other specialised sources
- Provide accurate and timely information about services available to survivors including health, psycho-social services, livelihood activities, and others
- Refer and accompany (upon survivors’ request) survivors to healthcare, police, and legal services
- Provide individual and group counselling to women receiving services from the centre
- Establish a co-operative working relationship with other organisations in the same field
- Ensure administrative processes are compliant with legislation and policy
Requirements:
- Registered with the SACSSP
- Minimum of three to five years counselling experience
- Working with survivors of prostitution and/or gender-based violence would be an advantage
- Fluency in at least two of the official languages of the Western Cape
- Report writing skills
- Computer Literacy: Microsoft Office (PowerPoint presentation skills)
