Durban centre is situated on the M7 route to Bluff, 311 Solomon Mahlangu drive approximately 10km from the Durban City Centre and 45km from the Durban Airport.
 The centre occupies 3.4300 hectares of land and it has been a home of Transnet Engineering for 40 years since 1974.

The plant has 7 operational businesses and 5 outlining depots i.e. Wentworth Diesel Depot, Wagons Bayhead, KwaManzini, & Kingsrest, Electrical Locomotive Depots in Umbilo. Further to that it also services 6 depots in the outskirts of KwaZulu Natal (KZN) region which includes Richards Bay Wagons & Locomotives Maintenance, Pietermaritzburg, Vryheid, Ladysmith, & Newcastle.
