Brief Description
The Department of Political Studies at the University of the Witwatersrand is looking to appoint a new member of academic staff.
This is a permanent position at the rank of lecturer, and is open to candidates who are working/researching in any area of political studies. The department would especially value applications from researchers with expertise in feminist theory and politics, post-colonial theory, public policy, elections and/or the politics sub-Saharan Africa. However, candidates with expertise in any aspect of political studies will receive serious consideration.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach large and diverse classes in all years of study, cooperate with colleagues in advancing the objectives of the Department, and contribute actively to the intellectual and administrative life of the Department and University. Candidates should possess a PhD or have a PhD under (or nearing) examination.
Candidates should show promise as a productive researcher, effective teacher, and administrator. Commencement of a publication career will be advantageous.

Remuneration: A competitive salary with excellent benefits will be offered dependent on qualifications and experience.
