De Vos Fellowships for Arts Managers

THE De Vos Institute’s fellowship program is offered free of charge to arts managers from across the United States and around the world who are selected through a competitive application process. These fellows attend a four-week program in residence at the University of Maryland each spring for three consecutive years.
Fellowships include:

  • Intensive academic training in nonprofit management, finance, planning, fundraising, evaluation, and marketing
  • Access to leaders of cultural institutions from throughout the United States, including site visits to select institutions
  • Intensive, collaborative group work
  • Ongoing personalized mentoring, both during and between the month-long residencies

The fellowship will accept a new class each year beginning in 2024. First-year, second-year, and third-year fellows attend residencies together and engage in activities tailored to their year in the program.
DEADLINE:  1 December 2024

Applicants must:

  • Have a minimum of five years working experience in an administrative capacity in an arts or cultural organization
  • Currently serve as the executive director (or equivalent) or the head of a major department within an arts or cultural organization
  • Have an excellent command of business English, orally and written
  • Be able to commit to the full term of the Fellowship (Washington D.C. residency dates are June 26 – July 21, 2024; June 25 – July 20, 2024; and July 1 – July 26, 2024. Fellows receive personalized mentoring and participate in virtual activities in between residencies.)

Fellows receive:

  • Air and ground transportation between Washington, D.C. and their state or country of residence
  • Lodging during the Fellowship
  • Per diem to cover living expenses during the Fellowship
  • Visa sponsorship (for international applicants)
  • Program materials

Stanford University, Stanford Arts Institute (USA) | Research Fellowships: “Creative Cities”

The Stanford Arts Institute, invites applications for one-year visiting fellowships. Fellows are expected to conduct interdisciplinary research on the theme “Creative Cities.” Each Fellow will be affiliated with the Stanford Arts Institute, as well as with a relevant department or programme at Stanford.

Stipends: Fellows will be awarded a stipend of $60,000 plus benefits.

  • Cover letter describing the goals and achievements of your work to date (not to exceed three pages)
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Written work sample (not to exceed forty pages)
  • Fellowship Proposal detailing the research that the fellow would undertake while at Stanford, including a course description for an undergraduate seminar (five page limit). Research projects may include a creative practice component.
  • Three confidential letters of recommendation

Fellows will be chosen by a multidisciplinary selection committee on the basis of the promise of the proposed project, the originality and distinction of the candidate’s previous work, and the candidate’s perceived ability to contribute to the intellectual and artistic life of campus.
