16 Days of Activism

The 16 Days of Activism is an annual campaign that aims to raise awareness within communities about the violence perpetrated against women and children. In 2014 the theme was encouraging men to become activists and to champion the cause of women and children who succumb to violence within their communities.
The partnership with the Children’s Radio Foundation is aimed at ensuring that children are given a voice and they in turn lent their voice to speaking out against violence on this platform. They shared their experiences and views with the listeners in their community radio stations.
As a Department we value the voices of young people as contributing members of societies and leaders of tomorrow. Their engagement on this campaign tells us that they are aware of the scourge of violence and that they are key stakeholders to changing society and eradicating violence in the future. We will continue to engage our youth on this pertinent issue and solicit further engagement.
