FASSET Discretionary Grants
The Fasset Board determines the areas of strategic importance for the sector by assessing information from Mandatory Grant applications, the Sector Skills Plan (SSP) and other research conducted from time to time. In addition to this background research and information, the National Skills Development Strategy (NSDS), coordinated by DHET, guides the development of strategic areas within Fasset’s sector.

Applications for discretionary grants close on 15 February of each year and are applicable to interventions of the preceding calendar year. Please refer to the Download page for guidelines and details related to each of the grants.
Projects funded through discretionary funding
Fasset funds projects annually to address key areas in the skills pipeline. Possible examples include provision of work-readiness training to graduates for bridging into placement (learnership / internship / employment), and funding TVET internships hosted by employers. For more information on this please consult the Bridging Programme section. Fasset also hosts free national Lifelong Learning courses on topics relevant to the sector.
