VACANCY: SENIOR LECTURER POSITION NUMBER: P001484
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Senior academic position in Chemical Engineering – undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and learning, and research activities under one of the associated research entities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS…
- MEng / MSc. Eng. in Chemical Engineering at NQF level 9, coupled with Registration as a Professional Engineer.
- A PhD in Chemical Engineering at NQF level 10,
- Must be registered with the Engineer Professional body – ECSA.
Recommendations:
- NRF rated Researcher is desirable.
- Membership with relevant voluntary associations is desirable.
Other Competencies:
- 5 Years` teaching and learning experience at a tertiary degree level.
- 5 Years` experience as an established Researcher.
- Competent to teach any of the traditional Chemical Engineering topics up to final year bachelor’s level.
- Competent to perform research projects under any of the existing research groups in the School.
- Competent to provide supervision to Masters` students in the above research field.
- Possess the necessary skills (e.g. technical, management and administrative) to support School and Faculty management.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills – interact with colleagues, industry and students.
JOB SPECIFICATION…
Teaching and Learning:
- Be responsible for at least two chemical engineering undergraduate modules, plus undergraduate projects, as per the annual task agreement.
- The conduct of lectures, tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations and workshops.
- Initiation and development of subject material.
Research:
- Active research in a research group associated with the school, including post graduate study supervision, as per the annual task agreement.
Management and Administration:
- Management and administrative responsibilities in faculty, school, research structures as agreed on annual task agreement.
