OPEN CALL FOR ARTISTS – PROJECT IN SA AND ZAMBIA

Open Call – Calling artists to work on environmental action public art projects in Livingstone and Johannesburg.

Open call for artists - project in SA and Zambia
This project will create collaborative public artworks in Livingstone, Zambia and Johannesburg, South Africa, around the theme of environmental action. The artworks will link the two cities and creative spaces and foster the use of culture and artistic expression for sustainable development. Art can visually and materially translate the abstract issues of climate change and environmental concerns and collaborative art projects open up dialogue, understanding and networks between cultures, and across African borders. Project is facilitated by Chava Alheit in partnership with Unesco, Greenpop, Propertuity and Art Africa
The project:
3 artists from the Southern African region will be selected to participate in a residency style workshop and production session at the Greenpop Festival of Action in Livingstone Zambia (25th June-17th July 2024) and in Maboneng in Johannesburg (28th August -9th of September 2024). During this time artists will live and work together to create “Conservation Conversation Corners”. These “Corners” will be spaces that facilitate and inspire discussion around environmental action.
All accommodation, transport, travel, materials and workshops will be arranged and sponsored by the project. Artists will also receive a per diem honorarium of $46 per day for the 35 days of workshops and production (21 days in Livingstone and 14 days in Johannesburg).
